This class is an introduction to school for our youngest students. Children will learn to separate without anxiety from loved ones and how to be a successful participant in a school setting. Students will work on being independent and will move further in their development of language and social skills. This is a wonderful starting point full of playtime, listening and learning in a group.

Age: Must be 3 by October 1
Children will continue to develop their social skills, cognitive ability and level of independence. Learning is acquired through hands-on experiences. Concepts of literacy, math, science and art are brought together using literature, music, experiments, cooking and crafts. We help students identify themselves as learners through fostering a sense of curiosity and a desire to explore the world around them. Teachers help children make meaningful connections to the world around them so learning is not compartmentalized.

This year we delve further into the world of learning as we work to develop school readiness skills. Children engage in learning center activities that broaden their ability to stay on task, problem solve, stretch cognitive ability and introduce new concepts. Literacy, math, science and social studies concepts are taught in a theme-based format. We work diligently to build confidence so that each child will be a risk-taker in his/her learning. Understanding the way young children learn best, we use play and hands-on experiences to make learning meaningful and fun.

This final year of preschool is designed for children who are on the older side of four or who would benefit from additional time before entering Kindergarten. Children work toward exhibiting greater personal independence by performing tasks such as signing in for daily attendance, packing their own belongings at the end of the day and following multi-step directions. Through the use of learning centers, students further develop school readiness skills and the ability to stay on task. We continue to build the children’s confidence and knowledge base providing them with learning opportunities to challenge them.
