They say that volunteers are
the heart of any organization, and St. Andrew’s
School is no exception. It is through our
fundraisers and many family events that we can
sponsor activities such as the children's winter
event, craft night and Dessert with Dad. The
children and parents thoroughly enjoy these events
each year. We have many events and festivities that
we need help with during the year. Below is a short
description of some of the areas we hope you will
consider lending your hearts and hands. The Parents' Association
This is a group of volunteers who organize the
school events on behalf of the school. Each event is
chaired by 3 or 4 Parents’ Association members who
then organize volunteers to help.
Class Moms
Each class, depending on its size, has 2 or 3
class moms. This is done on a volunteer basis and
there is ample opportunity for everyone to volunteer
if they would like. The year starts out with the
class moms holding their own class coffee when all
the parents can get to know one another. Here the
class moms will discuss the school events and ask
for volunteers to help. This is a good way of
getting to know other parents.
Kid’s Coupon
Book Fundraiser
– September
A book containing many coupons ranging from
restaurants, retail stores, children’s clothing,
museums and much more! A valuable item to have,
we’ve found this an easy and profitable fundraiser.
Giving Tree
— November/December
The school contacts local organizations to inquire
about the needs of underprivileged children. We then
set up a tree with ornaments displaying the needs
and wishes of these children. Children are never too
young to help another child smile during the holiday
season.
Ornament
Sale — December
Parents donate ornaments for the children to
purchase for a dollar. The children really enjoy
this exciting event.
Winter Entertainment
— February - TBA
The Parents’ Association organizes a clown,
magician, etc., to perform during the school day for
all St. Andrew’s children to enjoy.
Pancake
Breakfast— March
This is a fun event on a Saturday morning from
8:00am till 11:00am. Pancakes, sausages, juice and
coffee are served. Many dads volunteer to cook the
pancakes!!
Craft Night
— March
This is an evening for the children. A different
craft theme is chosen each year (e.g. a birdhouse)
and the children make their crafts with a parent and
take them home.
Spring Fling
Fundraiser — April
This is a purely social event for parents and
friends at school with fantastic food and delicious
desserts. Family and classroom baskets, along with
pro-sports tickets and vacation stays are raffled.
Dessert with
Dad — May
This is an evening event for St. Andrew's School
children and their dads (or other male figure) to
come and enjoy ice cream at school. The children and
the dads love this event, and the children love to
see their school friends at night!
Teacher Appreciation
Week — May
In conjunction with the nationally celebrated
week, St. Andrew’s makes this a special week for our
teachers. Members of the Parents’ Association
organize a breakfast for all the teachers. The class
makes a special project to present to each teacher
as a way of saying thank you for all that they do.
